Rubbish Removal Watford Modern Slavery Statement

This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Rubbish Removal Watford to outline our commitment to preventing modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation within our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to act ethically and with integrity in all business relationships and to put effective systems and controls in place to safeguard individuals from abuse.

Our Business and Supply Chain

Rubbish Removal Watford provides waste and rubbish removal services to residential, commercial, and industrial clients. Our activities involve direct employment of staff, engagement of subcontracted operatives, and procurement of goods and services from a range of suppliers, including waste transfer stations, recycling facilities, equipment providers, and administrative service providers.

We understand that elements of the waste and recycling sector can be vulnerable to labour exploitation, particularly where agency workers, subcontractors, and temporary labour are involved. We are committed to identifying and managing these risks proactively.

Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery

We operate a clear zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. This policy applies to all persons working for us or on our behalf in any capacity, including employees at all levels, agency workers, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.

We will not knowingly engage with any organisation or individual involved in modern slavery or human trafficking. Where credible concerns are identified, we will act promptly, which may include suspending or terminating relationships, notifying relevant authorities, and cooperating with any investigations.

Policies and Procedures

Our approach to preventing modern slavery is supported by internal policies and procedures that promote ethical conduct, fair treatment, and safe working conditions. These include commitments to lawful recruitment practices, fair pay, and non-discrimination. We expect the same high standards from our suppliers and business partners.

We make our expectations clear during supplier onboarding and when renewing contracts. Suppliers are required to comply with all applicable laws relating to employment, human rights, and modern slavery, and to cascade these standards within their own supply chains.

Supplier Due Diligence and Audits

We conduct due diligence on key suppliers and contractors based on risk, size, and location. This may include review of ownership structures, employment practices, health and safety performance, and any known labour-related issues. We prioritise higher-risk relationships for more detailed checks.

Where appropriate, we reserve the right to carry out audits or request evidence of compliance, such as workforce records, right-to-work checks, and training documentation. Non-compliance with our modern slavery requirements may result in remedial actions, closer monitoring, or the termination of the business relationship.

Training and Awareness

We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff, particularly managers, supervisors, and those involved in procurement or supplier management. Training covers indicators of exploitation, how to respond to concerns, and how to use our reporting channels safely and responsibly.

We encourage our people to remain vigilant and to understand that modern slavery can occur in any sector or community, including within the waste management and recycling environment.

Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing

We provide clear reporting channels for employees, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to raise concerns about suspected modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be reported directly to line managers, senior management, or dedicated company contacts.

Reports can be made in confidence. We do not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith, regardless of whether those concerns are ultimately substantiated. All reports will be taken seriously, investigated appropriately, and addressed with care and discretion.

Continuous Improvement and Annual Review

We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process that requires continuous improvement. We are committed to reviewing and, where necessary, enhancing our policies, procedures, and due diligence in light of emerging risks, regulatory changes, and best practice guidance.

This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least once every 12 months by our management team. The review will consider the effectiveness of our measures, any incidents or concerns raised, outcomes of supplier assessments, and training needs. Updated versions of this statement will reflect our progress and any changes made to strengthen our approach.

Approval

This Modern Slavery Statement has been approved by the management of Rubbish Removal Watford, who take overall responsibility for ensuring its implementation and ongoing effectiveness throughout the business and our supply chains.
